A day to celebrate tea means also looking at the bigger picture and thinking about where your tea comes from and who makes it. So on this International Tea Day, we’re raising our cups to something bigger than (just) tea — we’re celebrating the positive impact this fantastic plant and brew can have for the nature and people creating it!
At Monsoon Tea Company, we believe tea doesn’t have to come at the cost of nature which is why we created the term Forest Friendly Tea, meaning tea not only grown without pesticides or fertilisers, but also in harmony with life and biodiversity.
We work with local communities here in Northern Thailand so that they instead of needing to clear land for monoculture crops can cultivate tea in forest settings, under the thick canopy of large trees together with a multitude of other species of plants and animals..
The result of this work means that we can protect biodiversity, provide for people, and of course, make a fantastic product. In the end, tea then becomes a tool for conservation and something bigger than (just) tea!
