Tea Origin

Fang

This is the first area we started to work with back in 2012 and it acts as our main production site of Forest Friendly Tea. Together with the local Lahu community we have managed to make sure that forested areas stay protected while people earn more money from the tea picked and produced. The tea here is grown in a beautiful natural setting, without the use of pesticides, fertilisers or irrigation systems.

Our story in the area starts with Monsoon Tea founder Kenneth traveling the mountains in 2012 to search for tea, but finding long-lasting friendships. In the beginning we launched the Forest Friendly concept, working together to pick the tea in the forested mountains and then transporting it to the closest city and tea factory. In 2024 however we made it possible for tea machinery to be moved up the mountain so the tea could be produced as close to the source as possible, adding further value to the local community.
