Reopening a tea factory

New factory in the mountains

Recently, we took an important step forward in our mission by collaborating with one of our trusted partners to relocate machinery and equipment from the nearest city to the mountain, bringing our production closer to the very source of our tea. This decision has allowed us to move beyond simply harvesting the tea leaves by enabling the local community to directly participate in the entire production process. Now, they can be involved in not just the picking of the tea, but also in its production, which increases opportunities for local employment and skill development. More importantly, this shift helps ensure that a greater portion of the value generated from our Forest Friendly Tea stays within the community, benefiting those who are most directly affected by the work we do.

By taking this step, we are not only increasing the economic opportunities available to the local people, but we are also supporting a more sustainable and equitable model of production that fosters long-term development and empowerment. As we continue to grow and our production volumes increase, we are committed to maintaining this focus on improving our concept and refining our processes. We aim to further strengthen the positive impact we have on the people and environment of Northern Thailand, ensuring that our work continues to contribute to the preservation of the natural landscapes while providing more opportunities for local communities.

This is just one of the many steps we are taking to expand our efforts and make sure that as we grow, the positive effects of our work are felt not just within our company, but across the entire region, creating lasting change for those who call these mountains home. We’re excited about the future and the further steps we’ll take to enhance both the quality of our products and the sustainability of our practices, all while ensuring a fair and prosperous future for the people most connected to the land where our tea is grown.

“It’s important for us to continue taking steps together with our partners to create more opportunities for the people closest to the tea”

Kennet Rimdahl, Monsoon Tea Founder
